The Cambodian Veterans Association and the Thai War Veterans Organization have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two associations to help improve the lives of veterans, especially in providing them with artificial limbs.
The MoU was signed by General Kun Kim, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Veterans Association, and General Detnitit Luangngamkum, Director-General of the Thai War Veterans Organization, at a signing ceremony between the two countries in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
The MoU signing ceremony between the Cambodian Veterans Association and the Thai War Veterans Organization came during a visit by General Detnitit Luangngamkum, Director-General of the Thai War Veterans Organization, to Cambodia.
General Kun Kim said that Cambodia and Thailand are neighboring countries, friends, and brothers, and have a history of fighting together for the cause of national liberation, independence, freedom, and sovereignty from colonialism and imperialism.
He said that today, the two countries have achieved peace and development in all fields, while the people of the two countries, especially those in the border provinces, have happily communicated with each other, exchanged trade, and exchanged tourism.
He added that these achievements are due to good cooperation and the maintenance of traditional and strategic friendship. He expected that the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two associations on this new cooperation would yield successful results for the development of veterans and a better life.
He stated that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cambodian War Veterans Association and the Thai War Veterans Association aims to strengthen and deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two associations and work closely together with responsibility to jointly achieve new achievements in the field of veterans and families of war victims, as well as continue to support and support the families of veterans in return for their bravery and courage in overcoming all obstacles in the cause of the nation and the people to be free, peaceful and developed as they are today.
General Detnithit Loengngamkham also expressed his strong hope that the Memorandum of Understanding between the Thai War Veterans Association and the Cambodian War Veterans Association will continue to strengthen and expand friendly relations and cooperation, becoming more cohesive, deep and highly effective, to contribute to strengthening and enhancing the traditional friendly relations, good neighborliness, comprehensive strategic partnership and long-term stability between the two countries.
On the same day, General Detnithit Loeng Ngamkham also met with General Tea Seiha, Minister of National Defense of Cambodia. During the meeting, General Detnithit Loeng Ngamkham said that he had previously met and exchanged experiences with the Cambodian, Philippine, and Vietnamese Veterans Associations.
He stated that the Cambodian Veterans Association and the Thai War Veterans Organization share the same goal, which is to care for veterans and their families who have lost their spouses or beloved children.
The Thai War Veterans Organization has invited approximately 50 Cambodian veterans and their families with leg disabilities to Thailand to have prosthetic legs made for them. The program is scheduled to be held in Buriram Province, Thailand in April 2025.
General Tea Seiha expressed his gratitude to the Thai War Veterans Organization for always caring for the Cambodian Veterans Association. He stated that in the past, Cambodian veterans have received attention from their government by providing them with social land concessions, building houses, and providing them with some other necessary materials.
