ABOUT THE CLESIDRA PROJECT
An empowered and independent civil society is key to territorial good governance, and sustainable and inclusive development. The CLESIDRA Project aims to improve access to income and socio-economic support services for smallholder farmers, women and youth living in the Ratanakiri province of Cambodia. To do so, the Project will establish a permanent multi-stakeholder platform (called PLASED) for dialogue and cooperation between civil society, producer groups, service providers, and local authorities, and will contribute to reinforce competitiveness and sustainability of four relevant for the local economy value chains (rice, cassava, cashew nut, tourism).

The project will work with several target groups: Civil Society Organizations (including smallholders farmers organizations), Local Authorities, providers of social and business support services

Approximately 95,000 smallholder farmers, women and youth, including from indigenous communities and vulnerable groups

EXPECTED RESULTS
Capacities of CSOs, small producers and LAs fostered multistakeholder governance, environmental risk mitigation and inclusive socio–economic development, organization’s management and sustainability; Assessment of the state of art and potential of four relevant value chains run in a participatory way, and Strategies for their sustainable development elaborated and boosted;
A multi stakeholder platform for permanent dialogue and participatory decision-making (PLASED) and a comprehensive Services System (COSS) made operational in support of local development; Fourteen pilot actions implemented on fair and sustainable agriculture and tourism.

Tourist coming to Ratanakiri can enjoy –in a relatively restricted area – several unique and differentiated attractions, such as natural attractions, mountains and forests, national parks¸ waterfalls, natural lakes, rivers and water rapids, old volcanoes, birdwatching, sporting and recreational activities, ethnical culture and villages, with their handicrafts, art exhibition, traditional music, including dances, songs and musical instruments, stories and legends, sacred places.
