The GS1 Trade Fair is showcasing products from 25 provinces/municipalities across Cambodia at The Factory Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
GS1 Cambodia organized the first-ever fair to showcase Cambodian products for the domestic market and export to international markets, as well as to promote the use of national barcodes in the country.
The event was attended by Mr. Nguon Mengtex, Director General of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, and key figures from state and private institutions, as well as many national and international guests.
The fair showcased technologies to improve production and transportation to achieve high efficiency in developing Cambodian products with better quality, safety, affordability, and standards to promote Cambodian products to the market through branding and the accuracy of the barcode standard.
In his opening speech, Mr. Nguon Mengtex emphasized the importance of the 884 country code. When Cambodian products are exported abroad, the origin of the product can be shown by scanning the code. He said, “The benefits of using barcodes are effective in showing the origin of the product and reducing errors and risks, saving time in the production chain, and promoting product recognition as a standard.”
He added that it is easy to manage inventory, easy to circulate and distribute products in supermarkets and export to international markets, and can increase business-to-business communication and a single platform for all trading partners around the world.
Mr. Suon Mi, President of the Cambodian Entrepreneurs Association VMOVE, said that the GSI barcode helps local manufacturers to comply with standards in line with market needs.
“Currently, most of the association’s members are using GS1 barcodes, which provides many benefits to entrepreneurs, so they can export products abroad in accordance with standards, both in terms of packaging and high quality through GS1 barcodes,” he said.
The program featured key topics and presentations related to promoting and promoting Cambodia’s potential products and increasing knowledge about the use of labels, product standards and production systems.
The trade fair offered a variety of activities for national and international visitors. Participants could explore product displays from all 25 provinces/cities, enjoy entertainment programs, and taste a variety of food.
