The Cambodian Rice Federation said 12 Cambodian rice exporters will showcase the world’s best quality Cambodian rice at the Salon International de l’Alimentation (SIAL) in Paris, France, scheduled for October 19-23.
SIAL Paris is a biennial global food trade fair specializing in the food processing industry.
The Cambodian Rice Federation (CRF) has booked a pavilion for the second time, the Cambodian Rice Federation (CRF) said in a press release issued on Tuesday. The federation first booked a similar pavilion in 2014.
“The purpose of participating in this international food fair is to support the government’s policy of diversifying markets, standards, food safety, rice varieties and cultivation in Cambodia, which is implemented by the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries,” according to the press release.
Speaking to the Khmer Times, Mr. Chan Sokhang, president of the Cambodian Rice Federation, said, “To promote Cambodian rice in the global market, we plan to travel abroad on official visits or attend international exhibitions where our members can meet with partners involved in rice trade agreements.”
Participation in the exhibition is made possible with the support of Khmer Enterprise, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and the United States Agency for International Development in Cambodia (USAID Cambodia) through Feed the Future Cambodia Harvest III.
SIAL Paris is a must-attend biennial event for the food industry.
The Cambodian Rice Pavilion will feature 12 companies, including Kampong Thom Rice Mill Limited, Daily Fresh Food (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., Ieng Heang Import Export Co., Ltd., Signature of Asia, City Rice Import Export Co., Ltd., Fat Rice Battambang Ltd., Law Ek Heng Sekmeas Rice Co., Ltd., Indochina Rice Mill Limited, Emru Rice (Cambodia), Khmer Food Group, Primalis Corporation, and Golden Rice (Cambodia).
The European Union is Cambodia’s largest market. In the first three quarters of this year, the Kingdom of Cambodia exported 228,731 tons of rice to EU countries, accounting for 51 percent of the total rice exports of 445,913 tons.
The Kingdom of Cambodia earned $335 million from rice exports and $1 billion from paddy exports during the aforementioned period.
The Cambodian Rice Federation has set a plan to promote Cambodian fragrant rice in European countries in order to promote the quality of the rice. The federation plans to lead rice exporters to attend exhibitions in EU countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and other countries to promote direct sales to consumers.
