The Ministry of Commerce is considering implementing the National Cassava Policy 2020-2025 in Battambang and Siem Reap provinces, with provincial support.

The Cambodia-China and Cambodia-Korea bilateral free trade agreements and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreements with the 10 ASEAN countries and foreign partners such as China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand have created Cambodian markets for exports.
He said Cambodia has exported nearly 3 million tonnes of dried cassava, cassava flour and cassava to the international market in 2021, especially Thailand and Vietnam.
The price of fresh cassava is between 200-280 riels, and the price of dried cassava is between 700-780 riels per kilogram.
He said that cassava is grown in nine districts in Battambang province, with a total yield of 3,276,073 tons on a total planting area of 145,894 hectares.
He added that In the last three years, the prices of fresh and dried cassava have improved, bringing benefits to farmers, and the department has been monitoring prices regularly.
In Siem Reap province, cassava is a potential agro-industrial crop with a total cultivated area of 67,954 hectares with an output of about 15.65 tons.
Farmers sell fresh cassava to traders who export it to Vietnam and dried cassava slices to Thailand.
He said the workshop not only aims to promote the national policy on cassava But also to monitor progress and collect inputs.
Keynote speakers from the Ministry of Commerce, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries shared new information and knowledge with participants on boosting trade.
