In the first half of 2022, Cambodia exported 2.3 million tons of cassava products, up about 40 percent compared to the same period last year.
This was according to a report released today by the General Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the report, the sector also saw an increase in dried cassava exports, which reached 1.5 million, an increase of 24.25 percent. 1.1 million tons were exported to Thailand and 400,000 tons were exported to Vietnam.
Fresh cassava exports increased by about 97.97 percent, equal to 710,000 tons, exported to Vietnam with 470,000 tons and 230,000 tons to Thailand.
Cassava flour exports increased by 200 percent, as the country exported 480,000 tons of cassava flour. The largest market for cassava flour was China, which imported 470,000 tons of cassava flour, followed by the United States with 600 tons of imports.
Cassava waste was estimated at 7,000 tons, an increase of 63.81 percent, of which 6,500 tons were imported to China and another 500 tons were exported to Vietnam.
The main export markets for fresh cassava products from Cambodia are Vietnam and Thailand, while the United States, the Netherlands, China, Malaysia and Italy are the main markets for cassava flour.
