The Cambodia-China Cassava Association (CCCAA) was officially established on Thursday to boost agricultural exports to China and the world market.
The association’s inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mr. Wa Rutsan, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, and representatives of the association’s members from the agricultural sector.
Purpose of establishing the Cambodia-China Cassava Association To promote the high-quality development of the cassava industry chain in Cambodia.
The Cambodia-China Cassava Association serves as a bridge between Chinese and Cambodian investors in the cassava industry. The Chinese side will provide Cambodian farmers with production and cultivation techniques, as well as various materials to help Cambodia compete with other countries.
Mr. Wa Rutsanbay highly valued the newly established association for the development of cassava in Cambodia.
He continued, “The Cambodia-China Cassava Association will provide technical assistance “To help promote strategies that can produce more because the Chinese side has factories and technology to boost yields, which makes farmers profitable.”
He added that it could also attract investors to process cassava in Cambodia by increasing added value.
At the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed among several key stakeholders with the aim of boosting agricultural exports to China and the global market. The memorandum of understanding reflects the joint efforts To promote the development of Cambodia’s agricultural sector.
The parties involved include the Cambodia-China Cassava Federation (CPSF), the Cambodian Cashew Nut Association and Ningbo Weland Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., among others.
“The signatories intend to use their combined resources and expertise to promote Cambodian pepper, cassava and cashew nuts in the global market,” the CPSF said in a press release. These agreements reflect a shared commitment to raising the profile of Cambodia’s agriculture and its contribution to the international market.
Cambodia has a National Cassava Policy for 2020-2025, which was developed under inter-ministerial cooperation and support from development partners and approved by the government on August 14, 2020.
According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Cambodia exported 5.3 million tons of agricultural products to foreign markets in the first four months of this year, earning $2.35 billion in revenue.
