To improve health care services in Siem Reap province, the authorities on Thursday held a groundbreaking ceremony for a Heart Disease Treatment Centre worth over $2 million at Siem Reap Referral Hospital.
The Director of Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital Pen Phalkun said that the new centre was supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He added that the new building would be part of the referral hospital, with its development capacity higher than other provincial hospitals in the region, which has led people living in nearby provinces to use its services in large numbers, especially when they have serious or complicated health problems.
He said that according to analysis, coronary artery disease and heart failure are among the top 10 causes of death at the hospital.
Dy Rado, the Deputy Governor of Siem Reap, also said that the Heart Disease Centre will be a new achievement in the province’s health sector and will help facilitate the provision of health services to our citizens more comfortably and efficiently.
He said that the construction of the building is also a great achievement by the government and the provincial administration by making the province’s health sector more modernised.
