The Giant Doll Project team, made up of children from various organizations of the Giant Doll Project, is busy preparing to assemble the giant dolls for the annual parade in Siem Reap.
Mr. Un Sawan, representative of the Giant Doll Team, said that the 2025 Giant Doll Parade will consist of nine dolls, scheduled to be held on February 22, 2025, with more than 1,000 participants, to showcase the work of Cambodian children to national and international tourists, and to create new events that will attract tourists.
The giant dolls planned for this year’s parade are nine dolls of Khmer mythological characters from ancient temples, such as the statue of Kines, the lion sculpture at Sambor Prei Kuk Temple, the statue of the god Suvanna, the mermaid, and the figure of the giant, all measuring 5 meters long and over.
Mr. Savan added that this once-a-year event will help boost the local economy and attract more tourists. He also called on national and international tourists, as well as the general public, to join in and support the children who participated in this work. According to the organizers of the event, the giant doll parade will start at 6 p.m. from the Wat Damnak roundabout along the Siem Reap River to the Royal Palace Garden. After the parade, the giant dolls will be kept there, in addition to the two children’s hospitals and at several hotels.
