The CLESIDRA project achieved a significant milestone with its inaugural capacity-building workshop, held on March 28–29, 2024, in Ratanakiri, Cambodia. This two-day event aimed to empower Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to strengthen their involvement in local value chains and foster inclusive governance throughout the province.

With strong backing from provincial leaders such as Deputy Governors Vann Saophea and Kheang Yutheara, the workshop underscored the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable, socially inclusive development.
Led by Mr. Vincenzo from ILS LEDA (Italy), the sessions encouraged effective engagement of CSOs in decision-making and development planning, facilitating valuable discussions that bridged the gap between policy-makers and grassroots communities. Participants actively explored collaborative strategies across sectors, laying the groundwork for enhanced cooperation in the region.

The recent event in Ratanakiri successfully brought together a diverse array of stakeholders, including provincial and local leaders such as deputy governors and district authorities. It also featured representatives from the province’s four key value chains—rice, cassava, cashew nuts, and eco-tourism—alongside various civil society organisations committed to fostering economic and social development.
This inclusive participation provided a platform for diverse perspectives, ensuring that upcoming development strategies are well-informed and reflective of the community’s needs and aspirations.
The recent workshop marked a significant step forward in fostering inclusive growth within Ratanakiri. As the inaugural activity following the project’s launch, it aimed to establish a strong foundation for local development. By bringing together government institutions, community producers, and civil society organisations (CSOs), the initiative successfully aligned their diverse priorities, facilitating collaboration and mutual understanding.
This coordinated effort is vital for crafting a shared vision that prioritises sustainable growth and ensures that all voices in the community are heard and respected. The workshop not only sets the stage for future initiatives but also emphasises the importance of inclusivity in the development process, paving the way for a more equitable future for Ratanakiri.
