Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia – Building Community Voices (BCV) has successfully conducted a two-day intensive training program called “Understanding Conflict and Conflict Resolution Skills.” The goal of this program was to empower local leaders and community members by equipping them with practical tools to manage disputes and promote lasting peace.

The training brought together participants from across the province in a collaborative learning environment to strengthen dialogue and enhance community cohesion. This initiative reflects BCV’s ongoing commitment to supporting inclusive and sustainable development at the grassroots level.
The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of conflict dynamics and to build their skills in negotiation and peaceful problem-solving. Through a structured approach, BCV encouraged attendees to view conflicts as opportunities for constructive engagement and mutual understanding. Participants took part in a combination of theoretical sessions and practical exercises, enabling them to apply their newly acquired knowledge to realistic scenarios.
The training covered several key topics, including understanding the root causes and patterns of disagreement within communities, developing mediation techniques to act as neutral facilitators in resolving disputes, building emotional management skills for self-awareness and stress management in tense situations, and clarifying the responsibilities of local conflict-resolution advocates.

BCV emphasized that its training program is a key part of its mission to promote stability and harmony in Ratanakiri. By equipping individuals with practical conflict resolution skills, the organization is helping to build stronger, more resilient communities that can face challenges peacefully. A representative from BCV stated that this initiative is “an important step in promoting peace, constructive dialogue, and sustainable community development in the province.”
As Ratanakiri continues to grow and evolve, initiatives like training programs are essential for fostering inclusive and conflict-sensitive development. BCV’s efforts emphasize the importance of empowering communities by providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate differences and work towards shared progress.
Through ongoing engagement and capacity-building initiatives, BCV aims to support a future where dialogue, understanding, and cooperation are fundamental to community development.
