Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia – Building Community Voices (BCV) has made a significant advancement in promoting inclusive development in Ratanakiri by organizing a high-level consultation workshop aimed at refining the draft statute of the Platform for Socio-Economic Development (PLASED).
On 28 February 2026, a workshop was held that brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to contribute their insights and help develop a unified framework for the province’s long-term socio-economic growth. The event served as a crucial platform for dialogue, collaboration, and joint decision-making.

The primary objective of the consultation was to gather stakeholder feedback to strengthen the provisions of the PLASED statute and to discuss future governance considerations for the platform, including initial thoughts on selecting representatives to lead its implementation.
A total of 30 participants, comprising four women, actively contributed to the session, representing a broad spectrum of Ratanakiri’s development landscape.

This diverse group included local authorities who ensured alignment with provincial and district policies and governance frameworks, community-based ecotourism groups promoting sustainable tourism initiatives that benefit local communities, representatives from agricultural communities in Ou Ya Dav, Andoung Meas, Taveng, Ou Chum, Kon Mom, and Lumphat districts, as well as private sector leaders offering valuable insights on market access, investment, and business development.
The workshop emphasized the strong engagement and collective commitment of participants to create an effective and structured platform for collaboration. By incorporating viewpoints from the government, communities, and the private sector, PLASED aims to promote inclusive growth and sustainable economic opportunities.

A representative from BCV stated that the consultation highlighted the need for active stakeholder engagement to create a collaboration mechanism focused on promoting sustainable socio-economic development.
As the PLASED statute approaches its finalization, the insights and recommendations gathered during the workshop will be essential for making sure the platform addresses local needs and priorities.
With ongoing collaboration and stakeholder involvement, PLASED is anticipated to play a significant role in promoting long-term, community-led development in Ratanakiri Province.
